Belly Bhakti
This is an opportunity for experienced dancers interested in delving deeper into the mysteries of Middle Eastern dance. Belly dance movements have thematic patterns that convey levels of meaning that can be explored through embodied reflection, introspection, and expression. This workshop is beneficial for students, performers, and teachers, and will include considerations about performance intentions, creative relationships with musicians, and emotive modes in mystical experience. We will explore ways of using the language of belly dance to engage in devotional practices relating to the integration of the nafs (ego), spiritual love, longing and union, lover and beloved, intoxication, and spiritual community. In each session, we will be sharing, witnessing, and dialoging about the process in a safe and supportive group. Together we will create a collective vision and rejoice in a unified prayer of love.

Together we will stoke the fire of love in our hearts and rediscover the wisdom that burns in the center of the universe.
